Explosives
AMPT Services conducts specifically tailored Shotfiring courses for both Surface and Underground Mining operations in Australia.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The Shotfiring courses are designed to keep personnel safe and to comply with the Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) legislation.
Successful completion of both theory and practical examinations will allow the participant to be issued with a Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum Shotfirer's License.
The underground course is run for 4 full days including a practical component
The surface course is run for 5 full days including a practical component
The course is based on the National Competency MNCO1041A Support Shotfiring Operations and covers the following topics:
- Basic principles of Explosives
- Safely handling of Explosives
- Use of Explosives
- The responsibility of a Shotfirer
- Safe handling of Safety fuse, electric and Nonel initiation
- State Acts and Regulations (tailored to the state in which the course is held).
- Australian Standard 2187
- Dangerous Goods act
- Transport of Explosive
- Safety fuse, Nonel tube, Detonating cord and Electric firing
- Development Charging
- Production Charging
- Vibration
- Management of Fly rock
- Misfired charges
- Explosive Storage
- Delay firing
- Organise to fire the shot.
- Initiation Systems.
- Destruction of deteriorated explosives
- Causes of premature explosions and misfires
PRE-REQUISITES
- Dangerous Goods Security Clearance card
NATIONAL ACCREDITATION
Experienced personnel are encouraged to bring training records with them to the course as these can be used as evidence towards Nationally Recognised Statements of Attainment after meeting the required criteria.
WHO WILL BENEFIT?
- All personnel experienced or not that are required to use or assist with the use of explosives.
COURSE DELIVERY
AMPT Services has a flexible arrangement when it comes to delivery venue.
Courses can be run on-site, in Perth or in any major mining area.
SHOTFIRER REFRESHER TRAINING
Refresher shotfirer Training is a requirement for the renewal of the Western Australian Shotfiring License.
The refresher training requires a day for classroom training.
The new regulations and the Australian Standard for the use of explosives form the core of the training.
Additional areas are included to assist you to maintain current skills and knowledge and to risk manage your explosive related activities.

FULL UNDERGROUND SHOTFIRERS COURSE(4 DAYS) - ON SITE
On site courses - $8750.00 + GST for 10 persons (additional persons $300.00 each with a classroom maximum size of 15 people)
UNDERGROUND FULL SHOTFIRERS COURSE(4 DAYS) - PERTH
Cost - $900.00 per person +GST
FULL SURFACE SHOTFIRERS COURSE(5 DAYS) - ON SITE
On site courses - $9750.00 + GST for 10 persons (additional persons $300.00 each with a classroom maximum size of 15 people)
SURFACE FULL SHOTFIRERS COURSE(5 DAYS) - PERTH
Cost - $975.00 per person +GST
REFRESHER TRAINING PERTH BASED (1 Day)
Cost - $400.00 per person
