COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is intended for drivers and persons involved in and responsible for the safe loading of vehicles and the restraint of those loads.

1Day - (8.00am - 4.00pm)

Please note: The course may be completed within a shorter or longer time frame depending on the experience and number of those in attendance.

This training can also be conducted at a client’s premises and all course participants will receive a copy of the NTC’s Load Restraint Guide, Second Edition 2004.

COURSE CONTENT

The program addresses the following:

• Load Restraint Guide
• Legislation, Responsibilities
• Forces which cause movement
• Tie down and direct systems of restraint
• Load distribution
• Load limitations
• Load securing equipment
• Occupational health and safety requirements
• Performance standards
• Minimum restraint requirements
• Dangerous Goods requirements
• Oversize loads
• Loading general freight

ASSESSMENT METHOD

Knowledge assessment and practical demonstration.

PRE-REQUISITES

All persons must have good English literacy skills.

CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion, participants will be issued with the following nationally recognised Statements of Attainment;

• TLIA1001 Secure cargo
• TLID2004 Load and unload goods/cargo

WHAT TO WEAR

All course participants are required to wear appropriate work attire. Closed in shoes are a requirement for attendance on any course.

MORNING TEA

Coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided throughout the day. Fridge and microwave facilities are also available.
