TLIC3004 Drive Heavy Rigid Vehicle


AMPT Services is authorised by the Western Australian Department of Transport (DOT) WA to conduct training and assessment for HR-B trucks.  Gain the skill and knowledge required to achieve the nationally accredited unit of competency 'TLIC3004' and your Heavy vehicle restricted licence (HR-B), all in one place. PRE-REQUISITES:

To gain an HR class licence, you must no longer be a provisional licence holder and have held:

  • A Car (C class) licence for at least 2 years, or
  • A Light Rigid (LR class) heavy vehicle licence for at least 1 year, or
  • A Medium Rigid (MR class) heavy vehicle licence for at least 1 year.

Persons who hold a current (C) Class automatic licence can complete the HR-B truck licence and if successful, your licence will be upgraded to HR-B.

 

COURSE OUTLINE:

This course involves the skills and knowledge required to drive a heavy rigid vehicle safely, in compliance with WA's Department of Transport (DOT) licence requirements and regulations for heavy rigid vehicles. It includes maintaining systematic and efficient control of all vehicle functions, monitoring traffic and road conditions, managing vehicle condition and performance and effectively managing hazards situations. The course meets the requirement of the National Unit of Competency TLIC3004, and as an Authorised Western Australian Department of Transport agent, assessment is conducted to DOT Standards.

 

During training you will cover the following core areas:

  • Conducting pre-start vehicle inspections
  • Correct, safe and efficient driving techniques
  • Fatigue management
  • Low risk driving behaviours
  • Managing emergencies
  • Managing hazardous situations
  • Planning your trip
  • Heavy Rigid vehicle legal requirements 

All theory training and assessment is completed online at your own pace and must be completed before any on road practical driving training can take place.

 

ATTENDING TRAINING:

Identification:

It is a Department of Transport requirement that 2 forms of identification be presented upon commencement of any training or assessment,

  • Photo identification i.e. (Current Drivers licence)
  • Secondary form of Identification (Medicare card etc).

 

Breath Analysis:

All personnel are required to have a "zero" blood alcohol reading (BAC) and must complete a breath analysis before commencing any training, this is completed in house before any training or assessment commences.

 

Dress Standards:

Appropriate clothing is to be worn including covered in shoes

 

Eye sight:

An eye sight test will be carried out during the enrolment process. If you normally wear prescription glasses or contact lenses, please have them available at the enrolment process. If you believe your vision may not meet the requirements for commercial drivers, please seek professional advice prior to making a booking. Medical conditions:

Practical on road Assessment:

All approved RTOs must use in-cabin video, audio and GPS surveillance cameras to record heavy vehicle PDAs.

The recording of PDAs emphasises and enhances the Department’s commitment to road safety, customer service and robust compliance strategies for contracted heavy vehicle PDAs.

When you attend an RTO to conduct your heavy vehicle PDA, you must sign the camera acknowledgement on the Heavy Vehicle PDA Customer Eligibility Form (E114) as acknowledgement that your PDA will be recorded under camera. You can view your PDA at the RTO on completion of your PDA on request.

If you do not wish to have your PDA recorded, your PDA will not be conducted and the RTO will refer you to contact the Department.

 

COURSE OPTIONS:

1 day HR-B Synchromesh Course $1200.00 (Full payment on enrolment)

One on one training & an assessment with an AMPT approved assessor (Approximately 6 hours)

 

2 day HR-B Synchromesh Course $1700.00 (Deposit of $850.00 on enrolment)

One on one training over 2 days & an assessment with an AMPT approved assessor (Approximately 9 hours)

 

1 day HR-A Automatic Course $900.00 (Full payment on enrolment)

One on one training & an assessment with an AMPT approved assessor (Approximately 5 hours) 

 

2 day HR-A Automatic Course $1,500.00 (Deposit of $750.00 on enrolment)

One on one training over 2 days & an assessment with an AMPT approved assessor (Approximately 9 hours) 

 

Additional training - on completion of the 2 Day course will be charged at $160.00 per hour (minimum 2 hours)

 

PDA (Practical driver assessment) - Re-assessment will be charged at $480.00 which includes 1 hour re familiarisation with the truck

 

OUTCOME:

Upon successful completion of both the theoretical and practical driving assessments you will be awarded the national unit of competency TLIC3004 Drive Heavy Vehicle, and obtain your HR-B/HR-A Drivers License.

Requests for a refund must be in writing to AMPT Services with the notification period being the date of receipt for the email. AMPT Services recognises business days as Monday to Friday.

There is no refund to participants who do not obtain their qualification after assessment. If a participant fails to attend a course, no refund will be payable.
